Ingredients
Scale
Puff Pastry
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
Filling
- 8 ounces brie cheese (cut into wedges)
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
Toppings & Garnish
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
- Chopped nuts (optional)
- Honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the bites.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into 3-inch squares for individual bites.
- Assemble Bites: Place each puff pastry square onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. On each square, place a wedge of brie cheese followed by a spoonful of cranberry sauce.
- Fold and Seal: Gently fold the corners of the puff pastry over the brie and cranberry, pinching the edges well to seal the filling inside.
- Apply Egg Wash: Beat the egg lightly and brush it over the folded pastry squares to give them a beautiful golden finish upon baking.
- Bake: Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Garnish and Serve: Once baked, optionally garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. Serve the cranberry brie bites warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Allow puff pastry to thaw completely before rolling to prevent tearing.
- If you prefer, substitute cranberry sauce with other fruit preserves like apricot or fig for varied flavors.
- Chopped nuts add a nice crunch and contrast to the soft filling.
- These bites can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving for convenience.
- Use low-fat or reduced-sodium options if looking to reduce calories or salt intake.
