Ingredients
Scale
Snack Mix
- 6 cups Corn Pops cereal or similar cereal
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
Coating
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to use later for setting the coated snack mix.
- Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vegetable oil. Heat in the microwave at half power for 1 minute, then stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second increments at half power, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully combined, about 2-3 minutes total.
- Add Honey and Coat Cereal: Stir the honey into the melted chocolate mixture. Add 2 cups of Corn Pops cereal to the bowl and carefully stir to coat all pieces evenly. Repeat adding the cereal in 2-cup increments, mixing well each time, until all 6 cups are coated.
- Mix Cocoa and Powdered Sugar: In a large container or a gallon-size resealable plastic bag, combine the cocoa powder and powdered sugar thoroughly.
- Coat Cereal with Cocoa Mixture: Transfer the chocolate-coated cereal into the container with the cocoa and powdered sugar mixture. Seal the container and shake vigorously until every piece is fully coated with the dry mixture.
- Set and Serve: Pour the coated snack mix onto the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the coating to set. Once set, your Reindeer Poop Snack Mix is ready to enjoy or store for later snacking.
Notes
- Use half power in microwave heating to prevent burning the chocolate and peanut butter.
- Make sure to coat the cereal gradually to ensure all pieces are evenly coated without clumping.
- You can store this snack mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
- This recipe is great for holiday parties or as a fun gift in a decorative bag.
