Description

These Slow Cooker Barbequed Beef Ribs are tender, flavorful, and effortlessly cooked to perfection. Seasoned with a blend of spices and slow-cooked in a rich barbecue sauce, the ribs become fall-off-the-bone delicious. Optional oven finishing gives a caramelized char for added texture and flavor, making this an ideal comfort food main course perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Ribs and Seasoning

  • 3 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Barbecue Sauce Mixture

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the Ribs: Thoroughly season the beef short ribs with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to evenly coat all sides with the spices.
  2. Arrange in Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned ribs in a single layer inside your slow cooker to ensure even cooking.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and optional chili powder and cayenne pepper, stirring until well combined.
  4. Add Sauce to Ribs: Pour the prepared sauce over the ribs, making sure they are well coated and submerged in the sauce as much as possible.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook the ribs on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the ribs are tender and easily pull apart.
  6. Optional Oven Finish: For a caramelized finish, preheat your oven to 400°F. Transfer the ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet, brush with additional barbecue sauce, and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until slightly charred and caramelized on top.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the ribs and serve hot with extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, marinate the ribs in the seasoning and barbecue sauce mixture overnight before slow cooking.
  • Pair these ribs with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or roasted vegetables for a satisfying meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days; reheat gently to preserve tenderness.
