Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 packet (about 1 oz) dry onion soup mix
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the chicken.
- Season Chicken: Lightly season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper according to your taste preference.
- Sear Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust.
- Prepare Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of sour cream with one packet of dry onion soup mix. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Assemble for Baking: Place the seared chicken breasts in a baking dish. Evenly spread the sour cream and onion mixture over the top of each chicken breast.
- Bake: Bake the chicken uncovered in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Bake until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the sauce is bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving to add a pop of color and freshness.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to ensure it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
- You can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter sauce.
- For added flavor, consider adding minced garlic to the sour cream mixture.
- Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
- The dry onion soup mix adds a significant amount of sodium; adjust salt accordingly.
